Pretty much every website needs a homepage. It's to page you land on when you type in the domain name in the address bar. This is also the page where you're able to find your way to the page you are looking for. That's why the homepage has two main functions. It has to be easily navigable while also giving a good first impression to the visitor. Most designers will opt for a large heading image to give that first impression alongside a call-to-action button to the page a visitor is most likely to want to go to.
