I wanted to focus on the playful energy that can come from colors. There was not much to go off of with the single picture of the illustration style, so I decided to stick to a type only logo. I added some doodles to carry the playful energy and illustrative vibe throughout the logo.
I like how you used color and doodles to create a playful energy. The type-only logo works well with the limited reference material and keeps the design cohesive.

I went with a really fun handwritten font, then customized the two l's and the i and l in the last name to make them connect like a little road. I also customized some of the other letters so it didn't feel too stock, and put the whole thing on an organic shape to create more visual interest and tie in the strong shapes that Michelle's work incorporates.
I love this logo a lot, I think you nailed that children's book author feeling pretty well, and I liked what you did with the font to make it look unique and individual
