I think this is a great start, each element you chose fits this purpose very well. However I think it needs to be more cohesive. The children seem to be in a different style and colour than the books and pencils, so I would recommend making them all the same style and colour palette. I also think having two pencils at that length is a bit distracting and draws the eye too far away, I would recommend keeping one pencil and shortening it to let each element be viewed together more easily. Overall it's a wonderful idea, just refine it to be more cohesive and I think it will be a gorgeous logo.

It looks playful indeed! if you change the colors of the kids on the page it will make it look more cohesive, try to align them w each other and shorten the pencils to make the logo be more put together and intentional. love the idea though!

I suggest choosing one main graphic element and removing the gold stroke. This could create a cleaner, more custom hand-drawn feel.
